Check out these amazing postcards by illustrator Eric Tan for Pixar! Apparently these were done for the 2007 San Diego ComicCon.

Looking further, Tan has also done similar projects for Pixar, including work on The Incredibles and Ratatouille!

The colours and compositions are totally gorgeous. It’s a shame that these weren’t used for the theatrical release.

Wowowowow wow wow…wow.

Shepard Fairey was on Charlie Rose’s Real Talk on Monday. They go into his influence on the Obama campaign, and then some of his past politically driven work. I really can’t say anything negative about this man’s work, nothing but love here. Go check it out.

I have been stashing this away, meaning to post it for a while now. A co-worker of mine, Jake Mees, has been defacing bank notes, $5′s and $20′s, to be exact in the most hilarious and creative way. I thought it was well suited for a design blog as this is something I have never seen before. Oh, and this is not illegal at all! Weird huh? He’s done some intense research in to it and has found out the illegal stuff involves defacing coins and replicating banknotes….but drawing on the notes themselves? No big deal! Sorry for the not so great quality photos, but regardless, here they are:

Hello all! So I’ve settled back into my place in the city and am sorely missing the powdery white stuff that coats the trees (and trucks, for that matter) at home. But being back in Van does mean that I have my camera cord, which means I can share a couple of pictures I took over the holiday! There may be more to come, just to keep you all guessing.

Warning: They are not amazing, so please do not make too much fun of me. They are mostly just snapshots by me when I was out walking my dog (another thing I miss dearly now that I’m back!).

I just found this beautiful little video that mixes two of my favourite things: books and stop-motion animation! It doesn’t get any better than that. The craft in this video is phenomenal, I’ve had to rewatch it a couple of times to fully appreciate the scenery and little details that one may miss on the first go round.

So I am officially out of holiday hiatus. It’s a good thing we have Raine to keep the momentum going on the Blaahg! Here is a little something from Saks. They recently re-branded and I think we should get out our furry Russian hats and celebrate the fantastic design. The re-branding was done by Shepard Fairey who was inspired by the work of  Rodchenko when designing the new campaign.

If you have 5 flights of stairs to get to your house in Whistler and your roommate is on crutches, don’t leave shovelling the snow until it is 2 feet high and has turned into ice. Because as much as I don’t mind coming over and helping shovel, I think it would be easier if you just bought some salt.

Just found this great little animated music video by Wyld Stallyons, a UK direction/animation studio. This is seriously amazing – check out all different camera angles and focuses (foci?). And the vibratey effect. Warning though- your heart may break for the little blue guy. I definitely watched this a couple times over.

I can’t believe I didn’t share the title sequence for Catch Me If You Can in my last post. This is one of my favourites.

Designed by Kuntzel & Deygas of Add a Dog? a design firm in France. Their website is definitely worth checking out, as well.

We all remember Marge’s class where she talked about title sequences. Something I’d really never put much thought in to before, I definitely now take the time to enjoy them. This site also appreciates a nice title sequence, fittingly called The Art of the Title Sequence. The nice part about this site is that it shows some of the stills as well as giving you the option to watch the sequence.

Which reminds me of this hilarious mash-up: if Star Wars met Saul Bass.
